Survivors of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) or domestic violence may experience a range of emotional, psychological, and physical symptoms. It's important to recognize that individuals respond differently to trauma, and not everyone will experience the same symptoms. If you are a survivor, you may be feeling:

  • Anxiety: Persistent feelings of worry, fear, or unease.

  • Depression: Overwhelming sadness, hopelessness, or a sense of emptiness.

  • Flashbacks: Vivid and distressing memories of past traumatic events.

  • Nightmares: Disturbing dreams related to traumatic experiences.

  • Difficulty Trusting Others: A heightened sense of mistrust in relationships.

  • Social Withdrawal: Avoidance of social situations or isolation from others.

  • Hyperarousal: Increased sensitivity, easily startled, or constantly on edge.

  • Hypervigilance: Heightened awareness and scanning for potential threats.

  • Low Self-Esteem: Feeling unworthy or experiencing shame and guilt.

  • Sleep Disturbances: Insomnia or disruptions in sleep patterns.

  • Panic Attacks: Sudden and intense episodes of fear or anxiety.

  • Difficulty Concentrating: Challenges in focusing or maintaining attention.

  • Emotional Numbing: Feeling emotionally detached or numb.

  • Self-Harming Behaviours: Engaging in behaviours that cause harm to oneself.

  • Substance Abuse: Turning to substances to cope with emotional pain.

  • Eating Disorders: Disordered eating patterns as a way of coping.

  • Physical Symptoms: Headaches, stomachaches, or other unexplained physical ailments.
